Marsala - Pantone Color of the Year 2015

Another year, another pantone color to swoon over and for 2015, will be collectively hunting 'Marsala'. The muted wine color is universally flattering and us RF girls can handle this ruddy shade (you know about our trepidations toward Scarlet, but we are trying to open our minds) because it is practically a neutral. We recommend pairing marsala-colored garments with camel and navy and do not allow the beautiful wine-inspired shade to remain in your closet until Autumn. Happy New Year!


1. Butter London 'Tramp Stamp' Nail Lacquer - Probably the easiest way to dip your toe into the wine-colored pool is with a Marsala manicure. We love how Butter London includes swatches of their colors on a range of skin tones on their site. Check it out!
2. Topshop Textured High Neck Tunic - Siobhan actually owns this tunic, but in a different shade and it is fast becoming a wardrobe staple. We love a high-neck blouse and the blouse looks fantastic with a pair of classic black leggings (full bum coverage guaranteed!).
3. Free People 'Sunrise & Sunset' Bralette - Marsala was a color we overlooked when it came to our underpinnings, but no longer! It seems like a beautiful shade for the boudoir.
4. MAC 'Whirl' Lip Pencil - We are still harboring theories that Pantone was inspired by Kylie Jenner's recent 90s lip color zeitgeist when it came to choosing 'Marsala' and she has confirmed that this is her lip pencil of choice.
5. Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick 'Matte Coco Rose' - We have been loving 90s inspired lip colors, because we are fully-formed adults (debatable) and can apply makeup with some finesse we can wear the makeup looks that inspired us in our childhoods!
6. New Balance 574 Classic Trainers - You knew we were going to include at least one pair of sneakers, as we have become probably the prissiest pair of sneaker heads you will ever meet. We love the idea of wearing an all-black ensemble with these wine-colored New Balances taking center stage.
