Mix-n-Match NYE

If you're anything like us, you've been spending your holidays merry-making with family and friends and maybe spending an inordinate amount of time in pajamas. But BAM! It's already time to shimmy into the new year and you've already spent your paycheck on getting gifts for the baes.

So rather than buying a super sparkly dress that is only re-wearable a handful of times (Insta-overexposure is real), why not dive into your wardrobe and pick out a NYE outfit of separates? No longer will you fear walking into a party and seeing another person at the party rocking your high-street party dress because your outfit of separates will be all you. And if you do feel the need to purchase something a little something special and shiny for the evening, you will be far more likely to add it to your daily outfits -- I mean we wish that wearing a full sequin gown was an acceptable for daily wear but until that day comes...!

We hope you all have a fabulous new year's celebration and thanks to our dear readers for making 2014 an amazing year for Remotely Fashion!

BFF Holiday Gift Guide

You've made your list and you've checked it twice -- got presents for the boo and the boss but what about your BFF? The best thing about BFF gifting is that since you know each other better than the lyrics of No Doubt's 'Spiderwebs,' it is usually a breeze. In fact, most of the time when you're out shopping (online or otherwise), you probably have your "Oh, my bestie would like that" phasers up permanently. And there is no greater feel, than when you find something that you like but would look crappy on you, but your BFF would look amazing in. We think the term should be deemed 'vicarious gifting.' So here is a bit of giftspiration for all of you in long-term biffle relationships.

ASOS White x Le Coq Sportif

Duos rule, we're not bragging, that's just physics. Which is one of the reasons that collaborations are so very exciting. These trainers, the result of a tryst between Le Coq Sportif and ASOS White, with their furry finish are pretty much perfect. The worst thing about them being that they aren't on our feet.
With duos on the brain, this is the perfect time to introduce you to a brand spanking new blog, 211 Girls. Run by a kawaii pair of London based BFFs  211 Girls is a mash up Safiya and Sandra's  respective backgrounds in fashion and music. Expect Lil' Kim references aplenty.

Fashion In Motion: SIBLING

There are few things that we RF girls love more than a good bit of knitwear, so when we first laid eyes on, design trio extraordinaire, SIBLING's wonderous woolens, it was L O V E at first sight. And not just a flicker of love you understand, this was the all consuming, obsessing and a light bit of internet stalking, style love.

Autumn in Cali

We have not fully revealed this on the blog, but us RF girls are once again living in a remotely-working BFFriendship and Blogship with me crossing the pond and then some over to California. Although I was despondent to leave lovely England and my amazing English friends behind, I am not worried about Miriam coming to visit me in the sunshine state, because of her avid addiction to Tupac Shakur. And while living in California has always been a dream of mine, the RF Ken Doll and I are still adjusting to West Coast life. One example being my utter confusion of what Fall weather is over here and how I prepare myself a windy vortex every day only to be met with balmy sunshine and unnecessary outerwear in my grip. I'm definitely not complaining, but I was pretty thrilled when the temperatures dropped enough for me to wear this amazing sweater from & Other Stories.

Cannes We Kick It?

A really Nice weekend in the south of France with R.F's very own Polly Pocket. Entirely dressed in monochrome, our daily activities included, but were not limited to lounging, napping, tanning and eating french fries. Oh and constantly being on the lookout for Aperol Spritzes.

I'm a (Faux) Furry

What is it about fantasy-colored fur that makes us purr? We have narrowed it down to our childhood exposure to Sesame Street, Muppet Babies and Barney the Dinosaur (yes, Barney appeared to have a downy texture, rather than scaly). And if our landlords won't allow us pets, well we can at least stroke our accessories and make-believe! The Orla Kiely handbag reminded us especially of our new Remotely Fashion mascot, Kosi, the most fashionable Bichon-Frisse to hit the canine streets. So do like Kosi this winter and wag your tails in a bit of fantasy fluff and if anyone questions you just go all Oscar the Grouch on them.

Shades of Autumn

We apologise for stating the blindingly obvious, but one of the worst things about international friendships is the international part. Years can go by without you laying non pixelated Skype eyes on each other and you miss out on being able to just casually hang out. However, being of the obnoxiously optimistic persuasion, we prefer to focus on the positives of international visits and of course, omiyage!

This stylish trio had traveled come from far and wide -  The Big Apple, The Golden Gates of San Francisco and, er, Manchester - just to see us (kind of) so we took them to one of our favourite London haunts, The Rum Kitchen. We noticed that our fab trio was dressed in a Fall fashion  temperature gradient from coldest to warmest corresponding with the places they came from to visit us in London. And now aside from omiyage, they have bestowed upon us how to dress wherever we end up this season, whether it be for Guy Fawkes' Night or Thanksgiving Day!

Metallics - Not Just For Christmas

This is an urgent appeal.

As the first leaves of Autumn begin to fall, the first tatt of Christmas similarly makes its descent into the nation's shops. But amongst the chaos of reindeer antler hairbands and Christmas Pudding earrings you may also notice an array of metallic. Every year these beautiful shiny clothes are worn once or twice around the festive season and then discarded. Left to languish at the bottom of countless wardrobes across the world they are cold, lonely and at the mercy of moths.  Well we for two are not going to stand for it anymore! J Crew's Jenna Lyons famously elevated leopard print to the status of a neutral and we believe that metallics fall into the same category, with just a little bit of thought, these neglected garments can be rehabilitated and appreciated for the useful members of sartorial society that they are. Add a spangly shoe at the end of some ripped jeans, throw on a chunky knit or cosy sweatshirt with your sparkly skirt, or even take what would be an uber casual sweatshirt and make it silver. Here is our selection of stupendously shiny things that  are versatile enough to work into your everyday wardrobe. Silver skirt in Sainos, why the devil not?

Remember, sequins are for life, not just for your shitty Christmas party.

Last month, I went an lovely girls trip to Amsterdam where we shopped til we dropped and ate so many crepes we nearly exploded in happiness. The weekend was consistently sunny with a mild breeze that had just the slightest hint of Autumn, but mostly Summer which was perfect for strolling down the streets with cup o' frites in hand. I hope I'll visit this gorgeous city again!

My lovely friend humored my fashion blogging tendencies and took my OOTD shots for the weekend, so thank you Holly Bailey! Her family clearly has the photography gene in their DNA, because her sister Chloe is a great photographer as well. Check her out!

Jimmy Choo Townhouse - A Shoetopia

It had been impossible to not notice that the end of the world as we knew it was nigh (how else to explain the existence of Robin Thicke and his peculiar brand of rapey pop? ) but the event itself appears to have passed us by, perhaps we got distracted by something shiny. However the apocalypse came to pass, a couple of Sundays ago we RF girls found ourselves in a brave new world, in a veritable shoetopia!

221 New Bond Street has been converted into the first ever Jimmy Choo Townhouse and we went along to have a poke around. Set over three floors, all the shoes in there have been created equal, skater shoes and tough ankle boots, sit happily alongside the elegant heels, which have become synonymous with the brand.
We guzzled champs, played in the photo booth, got our nails did and generally drooled at all of the lovely shoes on show.

Shoe-shaped biscuits and beautiful scarves...
...Here are a few of our favourite skins!
We sound our spirit bags...
Then, in true RF fashion, found the flattest shoes in the shop - we like to fall for our shoes, not off them.

Pure narcissism - it's a kind of sickness really.

Clutch Bags For All - A Battle Cry

Valentino, Burberry and Costume National doing their but for gender equality

Never let it be said that we RF girls don't value equality. Sure we could wax lyrical about the widening pay gap and the continued existence of page 3 girls, but what really gets our goats is that for so long, men have been deprived of clutch bags. Well no more!

Caped Crusader

As we have observed before, fashion can be a cruel mistress, but once in a while a trend comes along which makes you feel oh so very grateful and thus the Stockholm Syndrome continues. So it is with the cape trend this Autumn; perhaps the only piece of clothing to make you feel at once cosy and a bit like a superhero.

London Fashion Weekend - Competition Time!

We tried to get Alison Hammond off of This Morning to introduce the competition but she's terribly busy with her Strictly schedule, so here goes...London Fashion Weekend is fast approaching and we have two tickets to give away for the Marchesa Notte show this Saturday. Cue collective "Ooooh"

Notte is the little sister label of London born design house Marchesa, which returned home to LFW this season marking its 10th anniversary with a delicate, floral collection, which had us wishing we were nymphs so we could scamper around the forest in their beautifully ethereal frocks.

Red Alert

Scarlett Women at Sacai, Meadham Kirchhoff and Valentino respectively.

Hate to be the harbinger of doom, but bad news is on the horizon, unholy red has been declared the colour of this upcoming season. While red lipstick and nails are A-okay - just ask Dot Cotton -red clothes make me feel, well, just a little bit funny. They either evoke images of Kat Slater, or, somehow make me feel as though I have a carnation tucked behind my ear.
There's something altogether too noticeable about red, which is why it's the perfect colour for things that you need to either spot or dodge, like post boxes or double decker buses. But when fashion says "jump", we can but ask, "how high?" and with that, here is our selection of the least lady of the night red things. The general rule of thumb seems to be to keep things conservative, with a little c of course.

This & Other Stories  clutch is ideal for gingerly dipping a toe in the trend.
Ladylike pleats and a high neck mean that this red Zara dress is perfectly prim and proper.
In our dreams we wear this preposterously beautiful Simone Rocha skirt.

Late Summer Monochrome

Late Summer Monochrome
Summertime is supposed to be all about bright, fantastic colors but all I can think about are black, white and a little of what's in between.
