LFW: NEWGEN's Claire Barrow

Siobhan & Miriam's favorite looks from Claire Barrow AW14 (respectively) courtesy of London Fashion Week. To see the whole collection, click here.

NEWGEN, created in 1993 by the British Fashion Council to recognise and support a new generation of talent, has an incredibly impressive roll call and from its ranks have emerged Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane and one of our personal favourite design duos (we do love a good duo) Meadham Kirchoff. Hot on their heels is the incredibly lovely and preposterously talented Claire Barrow.

As we rifled through her collection, she talked us through how it was inspired by dead male icons. Always a fan of piece of fashion that doubles as a conversation piece (here's looking at you, Norman) and items that can also be worn as a part of the uniform for a rebellious girl gang, we were instantly intrigued by her collection. Her pieces act as souvenirs in tribute to those icons depicted -- to wear and hold. The devastatingly cool and friendly Barrow illustrates all the visages that are emblazoned on her pieces herself and it appears we may share some similar man-crushes to the designer (Helloooo, Bruce Lee! See below). We can't wait to see what the future holds for this young and talented designer.

Bewitching dark and dreamy dresses

Varying textures in dark and shine and many with familiar faces make Barrow's pieces a visual and mental delight!

This golden-fringed clutch bag was to die for! We adored the handmade aesthetic and stand-out illustrations.

One of our man-crushes Bruce Lee is featured on a pair of Claire Barrow trousers from Enter the Dragon to The Green Hornet! This piece alone made us fall in love with her collection.

A look from the NEWGEN showroom space and some detail shots of another badass clutch and a lovely knit jumper.
