Oscars 2014 Best Dressed

Nope, no idea who won what, but we're sure it was a very lovely, inoffensive affair (bring back Ricky Gervais we say). What we do know, is whose red carpet looks we liked the best and so, without further ado, we would like to award our fashion Oscars to...*drum roll as the air bristles with tension*

Lupita Nyong'o
Who really ought to be awarded with the fashion equivalent of the Victoria Cross for her dedication to making the red carpet a much more delightful place. Her rainbow of dresses make us ever more certain that she is in fact The Last Unicorn - speaking of, how many nominations did that film receive this year?

Cate Blanchett
Did this dress jangle as she walked? We're sure that mere mortals would want to do all manner of shoulder rolls down the red carpet to maximise the racket one could make, but serene and elegant as Galadriel herself, we suspect that Cate resisted.

Jared Leto's Hair
Which deserves a special mention of its very own. Sorry Kardashians, but he has the best ombre out there bar none.

Kate Hudson
Who needs sleeves when a cape can transform an outfit from pretty to GLAMOROUS (ALL CAPS). We had resolved to sew up the arm sleeves of everything we own -- drape yourself into swankiness!

Olivia Wilde
Olivia looks like a glowing mod queen with her sleek mock turtleneck, black & white accessories, and lusciously thick eyeliner. Who would have thought such a simple black number would get our red carpet blood pumping? It could also be the fact that she has continually nailed how to wear evening gowns while pregnant. Maybe if we put a pillow in our LBD's we'll look more beguiling too!

Amy Adams
Sometimes less in more and Amy proves that sometimes not gilding the lily makes it more Enchanting (God, had to drop that pun in there. Feel so relieved now.) We are big fans of all shades of blue lately and navy hues in particular which drew us in among a sea of frothy-colored gowns. We've noticed that the big accessory for the evening were statement earrings and the coral pop from her ears keep everything more exciting.
