Women, Fashion, Power

2014 was the year that women became truly vocal and feminism became less of a dirty word, no longer being misappropriated to mean "man hating", which made the Design Museum's WOMEN, FASHION, POWER exhibition feel incredibly relevant.
Using fashion, the exhibition charts the progress women have made in British society, over the last 150 years. From the Suffragette's hat, to the infamous blue suit worn by Margaret Thatcher when she was elected leader of the Tory Party in 1975, the exhibition shows how fashion is far from trivial and is a positive treasure trove of historical style moments. A selection of which, in no particular order, are below:

Preach!
Elsa Schiaparelli's sunnies
Real life hat worn by a real life suffragette
Might as well face it, you're addicted to LBDs
A reason to be grateful to cyclists, apparently they pioneered culottes - who knew?
Dreamy Space Age 60s
Skin's feathered ensemble is EVERYTHING and that Prada cape *swooooon*
The mirrored space is a narcissist's dream.
Well that sounds lovely, maybe the past wasn't quite so odious.
